The ten-part watercolour series A Closed Mouth Gathers No Feet. by kennedy+swan plays with the idea of a global dietary shift. Proteins from grasshoppers, crickets, and buffalo worms have already found their way into our supermarkets. Not only do they end up in pizzas, but athletes also reach for fitness bars and drinks made from insect powder. Augmented reality content adds a temporal layer to the work. By scanning the images with a smartphone, additional information, animations and interactive elements appear on the screen. The utopia is not just an image, it comes to life. How do you prepare grasshoppers in beer batter? What happens if the insect farms are not airtight? And can beetles predict the future?

Die zehnteilige Serie A Closed Mouth Gathers No Feet. von kennedy+swan spielt mit der Idee einer globalen Ernährungswende. Proteine aus Heuschrecken, Grillen und Buffalowürmern finden schon heute den Weg in unsere Supermärkte: Sie landen nicht nur in der Pizza, auch Sportler*innen greifen zu Fitnessriegeln und Drinks aus Insektenpulver. Augmented-Reality-Inhalte erweitern die Arbeiten um eine zeitliche Ebene: Scannt man die Motive mit der Smartphone-Kamera, erscheinen auf dem Bildschirm weitere Informationen, Animationen und interaktive Elemente. Die Utopie bleibt nicht nur Abbildung, sondern erwacht zum Leben. Wie bereitet man Heuschrecken in Bierteig zu? Was passiert, wenn die Insektenfarmen nicht dicht halten? Und können Käfer die Zukunft voraussagen?
